Gus's Lawn-Care

About Gus's Lawn-Care

Riverwest lots run narrow and deep, hemmed by garages and alley fences, the grass reaching from the front stoop to a back gate in one skinny green corridor. Gus's Lawn-Care mows those corridors through July, when the light comes long and low down the east-west streets and the whole block smells of clippings. Trimming around fence posts, garden beds and the old maples takes as long as the mowing does, and that is fine — the finish is the part people see. Edges get cut, walks get blown clear, and the gate closes on a yard that looks twice its size. Small lots, done all the way through, are what make a street.
