Gus’s Lawn-Care

About Gus’s Lawn-Care

September mornings in Washington Heights begin under dew, the bungalow lawns silver until the sun clears the rooflines and the oaks around Washington Park start letting go. That is the hour Gus's Lawn-Care likes best of the season: grass firm, air cool, the mower leaving clean stripes that hold all day. Late cutting is its own craft — a little higher, a little slower, with seeding and feeding worked in so the turf goes into the cold thick rather than thin. Leaves get cleared before they mat down, and trimming keeps walks and foundations sharp right through the last warm week. Unhurried work on quiet streets, and it shows from the sidewalk.
