About GroundMasters

Out where the Milwaukee County Grounds open into unbroken field, a February clipper has nothing to slow it down; the snow crosses the parking lots in ropes and rebuilds the drift you moved twenty minutes ago. GroundMasters takes on that kind of ground — wide approaches, long drives, lots that have to be empty and passable before the first car arrives. Plowing, stacking the banks where they won't blind an exit, shoveling the corners a blade can't reach, then salting the sheet ice the noon sun makes and the night takes back. Storms keep their own schedule, so the work gets measured in hours slept between pushes. There is real pride in pulling up at daybreak to a lot that looks like the storm went around it.
