Greenwise

About Greenwise

In May the ravines of Lake Park go green from the bottom up, and the old East Side boulevards — Newberry, Lake Drive — fill with the smell of cut grass and lake air still cold off the water. Greenwise tends lawns and plantings that live in that particular light, mowing, trimming, edging and shaping beds where mature trees make half a yard shade and the other half full sun. It is particular work: what thrives under a hundred-year oak is not what thrives out at the curb. When the season flips, the same drives and walks are plowed, cleared and salted, the bluff wind considered before the first flake lands. A yard looked after this way never has an off-season, only a different set of tools.
