About Shackleton Tree Service, L.L.C,.

The Red Cedar bends through Menomonie past Lake Menomin and the old trail bridges, and every tree along that corridor has an opinion about wind. Shackleton Tree Service, L.L.C. takes down what has outlived its place, shapes what can stay, and prunes with the long view — a February cut a silver maple will spend all July repaying. This has been timber country since the sawmill years, and there is still a particular satisfaction in reading a lean, planning the drop, and leaving the lawn without a rut in it. When a squall runs up the valley and lays a limb over a driveway, the storm work starts at first light and ends with the walk swept clean. The crew leaves a yard the way the river leaves a sandbar — smooth, and looking like it was always meant to be that way.
