Clippers drop down out of Alberta on a northwest wind and reach Menomonee Falls in the dark — three or four dry inches while the village sleeps, blowing and drifting against every garage door. Dorshak Snow works that hour. Plow lights swing through the neighborhoods sometime after two, driveways opened wide, walks cut to the step, the packed ridge the county plow left across the apron sheared back square. Morning comes and the street looks as though the storm was somebody else's problem. Snow is the whole trade here, and being early is most of the art of it.
