American Landscape

About American Landscape

In late March the Menomonee River comes loud again, shouldering ice over the limestone ledge in the middle of the village, and the lawns along it wake up grey and flattened and wanting attention. American Landscape works that turn of the year from Menomonee Falls, raking out the winter mat, taking the first green cut of the season, and setting a clean line where turf meets walk. The same trucks carry blades in December, opening driveways along the village streets so a morning can start on time. There is a plain satisfaction in a yard that reads as tended from the road: stripes laid straight, corners not fudged, edges holding. Ordinary work done fully, week after week, on streets they know by name.
