Lawn Rangers

About Lawn Rangers

Noon in July out along the farm edge on Highway 12 — heat shimmer over the blacktop, hay down in the next field, and a lawn that put on four inches during a week of thunderstorms. Lawn Rangers takes it back down even, trims the posts and the mailbox, and blows the walks clear so nothing tracks indoors. Come January the work runs after dark instead: blade lowered, snow pushed back to make room for whatever falls next, walks shoveled and treated where ice glazes. Mauston asks for both jobs, and the pleasure of each is identical — pulling away from a property that finally looks square. Mowing, trimming and cleanups while things grow; plowing and clearing once the ground goes hard.
