The Marquette blocks were laid out for horse carts, not plow trucks: narrow drives, tight side yards, terraces where snow has nowhere to go but up. Outdoor/indoor service works those streets off Williamson late, once the parking has thinned and there is finally room to swing a blade. Much of it comes down to hand shoveling — back steps, the walk to the porch, the gap between the car and the street — followed by salt where the shade never lets ice give up. Snow gets stacked where it won't bury a hydrant or block a sightline, which on a Willy Street lot takes some thinking. By the time the neighborhood stirs, the sidewalks run as a clean ribbon end to end.
