GroundKeeper

About GroundKeeper

Keeper is an old word for someone who stays with a thing, and grass in southern Wisconsin needs staying with. From the ballfields at Verona's community park to a front yard on a cul-de-sac, turf here goes through a June flush, an August scorch and a September resurrection, and it wants a different hand at each. GroundKeeper handles the whole calendar — regular mowing, trimming and edging, fertilizing, weed control, aeration and overseeding, spring cleanup and the long fall haul of leaves. The reward is uncomplicated: an even sweep of green with a crisp line where it meets the walk. Verona is a town that notices.
