Dorn Property Care

About Dorn Property Care

By January the Merrimac ferry is out of the water, Lake Wisconsin has gone hard and white, and the wind comes down the valley with nothing at all to slow it. Dorn Property Care works the hours nobody else is awake for — plowing driveways and lots, shoveling steps and walks, spreading salt where the melt refreezes at the bottom of a slope. A storm can drift a Lodi driveway shut twice in one night, so the route gets run twice. There is a quiet pride in a drive opened to the blacktop before the paper lands, and in banks carried back far enough that the next storm has somewhere to go. Lodi, Okee, Merrimac and Prairie du Sac, all winter, until Spring Creek runs open past the village again.
