August in Lake Geneva arrives thick — cicadas going in the cottonwoods over toward Big Foot Beach, the lake gone flat as glass by evening, heat sitting on the grass all afternoon. Chacaz Lawncare works straight through it: mowers out early on the south side of town, the trimmer following every post and hydrant, the blower clearing walks before the crew loads up. In a dry stretch the deck comes up a notch so the lawn holds what moisture it has; when the rain finally breaks, the grass jumps and the schedule tightens. It is simple, repeated work, and repeating it well is the whole art of the thing. A yard mowed on the same day every week is one less thing anybody in the house has to think about.
