Highway 50 runs west out of Kenosha until the subdivisions give out and the corn begins, and M & E landscaping works that whole seam of town and farmland. Summer is mowing and trimming, mulch and bed edges, the landscape work that keeps a property looking cared for from the road. Then the year turns over and the same ground has to be plowed — driveways long enough to need two passes, lots opened before the morning traffic, walks shoveled and salted. Out there the wind has nothing to slow it, so drifts rebuild behind the plow and the route gets run twice. Two seasons, one property, the same set of hands.
