About Calmes & Sons Landscaping, LLC

East of the city the blocks give out and the county roads run between hayfields toward Vandenbroek and Freedom. Calmes & Sons Landscaping mows and maintains lawns on both sides of that line, the tight village yards and the wide half-acre ones with wind coming across the corn. An early June morning is the hour to be at it, grass wet to the ankle: cut, trim, blow the walks, and the place looks settled for a week. Out here a lawn is a small piece of the same ground the fields are, kept short instead of tall. The pride is in leaving no missed strip and no clippings where they do not belong.
