Juda is a crossroads village in the dairy heart of Green County — silos on the skyline, hayfields to every horizon, and weather that arrives with nothing to slow it down. Grinnell Outdoor Services works both ends of that weather. In the growing months it is mowing and yard upkeep while the smell of cut hay drifts in from the farms; in winter it is plowing out lanes and shoveling steps after the wind has pushed snow across the open fields and packed it hard. Out here a drifted driveway can close twice in one day, so the trucks go back until it stays open. Two seasons, one continuous round of work, and a village kept passable and trim through both.
