Dave's Tree Service

About Dave's Tree Service

Morning in Holmen comes up over the coulee rim in layers — fog low on the bottoms, gold on the bluff faces above the Black River. Dave's Tree Service works under those bluffs, taking down the tree that has outlived its footing and shaping the ones that still have good years ahead. Tree removal, trimming and pruning here mean reading a bur oak that grew up in river-valley wind and knowing exactly which limb it can spare. When a summer line of thunder walks down the valley, storm damage cleanup turns a tangled yard back into a yard before supper. What makes the day worth it is the look of the place afterward: light where light belongs, brush hauled off, a lawn clean enough to walk barefoot on.
