About Horner Lawn Services

Hillsboro keeps a millpond at its heart and a rail-trail running out of town toward Union Center, and Horner Lawn Services works the yards in between all year. Summer is mowing weather — lawns cut and trimmed along the West Branch of the Baraboo, edges brought up sharp while swallows work the water. Once winter closes in, the same crew swaps mower decks for plow blades and keeps driveways and walks open through the deep-drifted stretches. One outfit, both halves of the calendar, the whole town in its route book. The pond freezes and thaws; the work just changes its clothes.
