About Hammer Dirt Works LLC

Winter in Hillsboro is a ridge-and-valley affair — snow piling on the high ground, sifting down into a town that calls itself the Czech capital of Wisconsin. Hammer Dirt Works LLC meets it with iron: plows dropping on driveways, walks shoveled through, ice broken off the grades that make this driftless country beautiful in July and serious in January. Steep approaches and drifting ridgetop roads are simply the local terms of the job. The crew runs its routes until every drive on the list is open and the banks are pushed back square. In a valley town, cleared pavement is how winter gets put in its place.
