The ground under Hartford is the glacier's leftovers — sand, gravel and till dropped here when the ice withdrew — and it feeds a lawn differently on nearly every block. Master Fertilizing works with that reality: fertilization on a seasonal program, weed control, treatments timed to what the grass actually wants in May versus what it wants in August. A lawn fed correctly in spring is the one still deep green through a dry July, holding color while the roadside grass goes pale and papery. There is a real pleasure in walking a property in late June and watching the color come up thick and uniform right out to the sidewalk. Feeding on a schedule is what makes that look ordinary.
