Sterman's Helping Hands

About Sterman's Helping Hands

An August evening in Hartford — sprinklers ticking, kids still out, somebody's lawn getting mowed while they are away for the week. Sterman's Helping Hands is often that somebody. The lawn work runs the length of the season: mowing, trimming, edging, cleanups once the leaves begin letting go. In winter the hands move to snow — driveways plowed, walks and steps shoveled down, salt spread before the freeze locks in. Helping is not a metaphor around here; it is a neighbor's front walk, opened at an hour when going out to do it yourself would be no fun whatsoever.
