By March the ice below the De Pere dam breaks into plates and grinds downriver, and the lawns above the bank come out of winter flattened and gray. CJS Landscape begins there, with spring cleanups, the first cut, and edges reopened along walks and drives to give a yard its outline back. Summer settles into mowing on a schedule the grass sets rather than the calendar. When things turn, those same properties get plowed, shoveled and salted, from the riverfront blocks out to the newer streets east of the Claude Allouez Bridge. Watching a place come back green after a hard Wisconsin winter is its own kind of payment.
