Grob's Lawn Service

About Grob's Lawn Service

Late September in Grafton arrives on low gold light, the river running hard past the old kilns cut into the limestone bluff, salmon working their way up beneath the bridge. Grob's Lawn Service is out in it, mowing the last strong growth of the year and hauling off the first real fall of leaves before rain packs them down. Grass takes a cut beautifully this time of year — cool nights, thick color, a stripe that holds until the next pass. There is a plain satisfaction in a lawn put to bed properly: edges crisp, beds cleared, nothing left on the turf to smother it. The round runs across Grafton and out to Cedarburg, Saukville and Fredonia.
