White Knightz

About White Knightz

The morning after a storm, Fort Atkinson goes very quiet and very bright — hoarfrost on the fence wire, drifts curled up against the garage doors, nobody out yet to spoil any of it. White Knightz likes that hour. Driveways get plowed open, walks and steps shoveled down to concrete, salt laid where the ice would otherwise set up hardest, and the whole of it finished before the first alarm clocks go off. What a household sees is simply a clear path to the car and a street they can join. Handing somebody an ordinary morning in the middle of a Wisconsin winter is a good way to spend a night.
