About Healthy Habitats LLC

The land around Elkhorn was shaped by ice — gravel ridges, oak-crowned rises, low kettles that hold water into June — and the plants that belong here have been figuring that out for ten thousand years. Healthy Habitats LLC works with that inheritance, putting in native plantings and tending beds where coneflower and little bluestem can do what turf never will on a dry slope. Lawn care runs alongside it: mowing, trimming, edging, keeping the grass areas crisp so the planted areas read as intentional. A yard done this way hums in August — bees in the milkweed, goldfinches working the seed heads, the mown paths cut clean through it all. It is a landscape that gets more alive every year, which is a fine thing to leave behind you.
