Eager Beaver Tree & Stump

About Eager Beaver Tree & Stump

Four in the morning, ten below, and the pines along the Conover roads are holding more snow than the sky ever seems to have let go — this is where Eager Beaver Tree & Stump does its winter work. The crew plows the long drives that thread back through the woods to houses and cabins, headlights swinging across banks taller than the truck hood. Vilas County winters do not negotiate, so the plowing starts early and repeats as often as the snow does. By first light the drives are open, the berms are pushed clean, and the woods go back to their silence.
