Showpiece Lawns

About Showpiece Lawns

The old houses in Cedarburg's historic district were built to be looked at — deep porches, tall windows, cream brick and clapboard set back behind a lawn that is part of the composition. Showpiece Lawns treats that lawn as the frame it is: mowing at the right height, trimming close around posts and plantings, edging the walk, fertilizing to keep the color even, cleanups in spring and fall. On a Sunday evening in June, when the light goes gold along the street, a lawn either finishes the house or quietly lets it down. Even color, straight lines, a clean break at the sidewalk — that is the recipe, applied every single week. Nothing showy about the method; the result is the show.
