April in Boulder Junction is a negotiation. The lakes are still capped, plow sand sits grey in the grass, and then one warm week takes the ice out and the whole town exhales. Northwoods Landscaping works both sides of that line — cleanups and mowing through the green months in the shade of the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest, then plowing and driveway clearing once October starts throwing flakes across the county highways. Properties out this way run long and narrow toward the water, half of them empty for stretches, and the work is identical whether anyone is home: grass cut even, edges trimmed, drives opened wide. Each year the yard gets handed back and forth between summer and winter, and the point is that it looks cared for in both.
