Don's Greener Side

About Don's Greener Side

Downtown Black River Falls is brick and old window glass, a run of storefronts with narrow alleys behind them and the county courthouse holding the middle of it all. Don's Greener Side works both halves of the year around those blocks and the neighborhoods on the streets above — mowing, trimming and cleanups while the grass is running, plowing, shoveling and ice treatment once it stops. Town lots ask for a lighter touch than open country: tight corners, boulevard strips, hedges and steps and stone that all have to be worked around rather than through. Getting a walk cleared right down to the surface before the shops open is its own small victory in January. In July the same pride shows up as a clean edge along a hundred-year-old sidewalk.
