Gatehouse Gardens

About Gatehouse Gardens

May in the Baraboo range comes up damp and green, Parfrey's Glen dripping, ferns unrolling, the whole county about two weeks away from needing a mower. Gatehouse Gardens meets the season right there with mowing, trimming, edging and the spring tidy-up that clears winter's litter out of the beds and off the grass. There is genuine pleasure in the first cut of the year, the way a shaggy yard turns crisp over a single afternoon. Later the calendar swings and the same hands go to plows and shovels, opening driveways and walkways once the valley fills with white. The gardens sleep; the work only changes clothes.
