Gav’s Mow n Snow

About Gav’s Mow n Snow

Arena sits just south of the Wisconsin River, where the current braids around pale sandbars and wooded bluffs rise on either side of the valley. Gav’s Mow n Snow covers both halves of the year in this village, mowing while the river runs warm and lazy, then clearing snow once the bottomlands turn white and still. A January dawn here can come up rose-colored over drifted fields, and there is pride in being the reason a driveway is already open before that light arrives. In summer the job turns to clean passes and trimmed borders, grass kept at a height that rides out a humid afternoon. Two seasons of work, one small village: Arena.
