Colby Excavating

About Colby Excavating

Abbotsford sits astride the Clark and Marathon county line, up on ground high enough that the land can't quite decide which way to send its water. Winter finds that ridge first: snow arrives off the open fields west of Highway 13 and stacks against every windbreak between here and Colby. Colby Excavating works the dark end of those nights, plowing and hauling so a farmyard, a shop lot or a driveway stands open by the time the milk truck comes through. There's a certain rightness to a lot scraped down to bare pavement with the banks pushed back square and room left for whatever the sky sends next. Unglamorous work, and it decides whether a whole morning happens on time.
