About Yakima Tree Service

North of town, where the Yakima and Naches rivers come together before the Yakima River narrows into its canyon through Selah Gap, the wind funnels harder than almost anywhere else in the valley. Yakima Tree Service works the driveways along that stretch first on a snow day, because what falls up there tends to drift twice as deep against fence lines and canyon walls as it does on the open valley floor. The crew's plow routes follow the old canyon-road logic, clearing the exposed turns first, then working back down into town where the wind has less to push against. Along the river bottoms near the confluence, cottonwood roots buckle the driveways enough that hand-shoveling does better work than a blade, so the crew switches tools without switching routes. The gap holds onto its snow longer than the rest of the valley does, wind never quite letting go of what it piled up overnight.
