The Yakima Greenway follows the river for miles through town, cottonwoods lining the water and the paved path drawing walkers and cyclists even into the cooler months. Gregory Landscaping tends the plantings along that corridor most of the year, and when a rare valley snow does gather on the path and the driveways backing up to it, the same crew is out clearing a way through before the morning walkers show up. Homes along the greenway tend to back right up to the cottonwoods, so driveways there collect drifted leaves under the snow as often as they collect the snow itself, and the crew clears both in the same pass. Farther from the river, on the drier blocks where there's less shade to hold the cold, the work goes faster, driveways bare again within an hour of the plow's first pass. It's a short list of days most winters, but each one ends with the Greenway path itself scraped clear for whoever still wants their morning walk along the river.
