Washougal River Road climbs out of town in long switchbacks, homes tucked into timbered slopes above the river, and it's exactly the kind of grade that turns dangerous the night the Gorge's east wind brings ice instead of just cold. BoreForce clears those hillside driveways, cut into slopes where a plow truck can't always reach and the work comes down to a smaller machine and careful footing. Working switchback by switchback, they open a track from the road up to each house before that ice has a chance to thicken. A hillside home up here can be iced in solid while the flat streets in town are still just wet.
