About Schafer Specialty Landscape & Design

March on the Burton peninsula: the old strawberry ground greens up again and Judd Creek runs full under the alders. Schafer Specialty Landscape & Design begins on paper — where the path goes, what gets planted, how a bed will meet the lawn — and then builds it, plantings set, borders laid, turf brought in and kept alive through its first summer. The longer half is maintenance: mowing through the growing season, edging, pruning shrubs back into their intended shape, mulch worked in around young roots. A design earns itself by the third year, when the lines have filled and still hold. Vashon Island, Burton, Dockton and the north-end roads toward the ferry.
