About Green Guys Gardening

Before the first ferry pulls away from the dock, Vashon's hills are still dark with fir and cold. Green Guys Gardening clears the driveways climbing up from the water so islanders can make that boat instead of watching it leave. Snow here is rare enough that one storm can catch the whole island off guard, turning a switchback driveway into something nobody wants to test in bald tires. They work the steep grades first, the ones off the highway that ice over in the shade of madrona and cedar, then move to the flatter lanes near the elementary school and the fairgrounds. By midmorning the gravel is bare again, puddles skimmed with one last thin crust of ice catching the light.
