Cascade Tree Works

About Cascade Tree Works

Cascade Park's Douglas firs hold onto snow longer than almost anything else in the neighborhood, their needles catching what a maple would have already dropped. When ice adds its own weight on top, Cascade Tree Works comes through to take down the limbs that won't hold — the ones leaning over a driveway, a play structure, a neighbor's fence line. The work is deliberate, one branch at a time, dropped where there's room and hauled off before the next freeze locks everything back down. Afterward the yard looks less crowded, more like itself, the trees standing a little straighter for the weight they're no longer carrying. Once the danger's been cut away, the only sound left in a Cascade Park backyard is the drip of meltwater off what remains.
