About The Bright Side
Liberty Lake sits out on the eastern edge of the valley, close enough to the state line that its sunrise seems to arrive a few minutes ahead of the rest of Spokane. The Bright Side works its driveways in those early minutes, plowing and salting before the lake's surface even starts to catch color. Houses along the water get the sun early and lose it early too, tucked as they are against the hills on the far shore, so the crew's morning schedule follows the light out there rather than the clock. By the time that first color finally reaches the lake, ice at the edges and open water further out both catching the same pink light, the driveways above it are already bare. It's a good way to start a route, watching a lake go from iron gray to amber while the last of the morning's plowing wraps up.
