About Augusta Lawn Care of Cheney

Out past the airport the land flattens into scabland and wheat, and Cheney sits in the middle of it with its college, its grain elevators and its long dry light. Augusta Lawn Care of Cheney mows and trims the town's yards and the rentals that fill and empty with the school year, edging the walks and carrying the clippings off. By late August the fields have gone the color of paper and a watered lawn stands out from a mile away. In autumn the crew works ahead of the leaves; in spring they open the yards back up after the cold. Turnbull's marshes are ten minutes south, and on a good June evening the whole town smells like water and cut grass.
