Mason Lake holds a rim of ice along its edges most cold mornings, thin enough near the boat launches that nobody trusts it and thick enough in the coves that it holds until noon. Western Landworks clears the lake-road driveways in that kind of weather, plow blade first and then a scattering of salt on the boat ramps and steep pull-ins where the ice is worst. The lake community goes quiet in winter compared to the boats and noise of summer, just a scatter of year-round houses and cold water sitting still under a gray sky. Clearing a driveway out there means working around docks and boat trailers left in place for the season, careful blade work instead of a straight run. By the time the sun gets high enough to soften that rim of ice, the roads around the lake are already clear.
