About Tobin Bros Excavation and Tree Services

Down near the old millgrounds at the edge of town, where log ponds once held rafts of timber waiting for the saw, a spur of rail track still runs past buildings that outlived the mill itself. Tobin Bros Excavation and Tree Services works the driveways and yards around that old industrial ground, where decades of heavy equipment left the soil compacted enough that snowmelt has nowhere to go and refreezes into ice overnight. Clearing storm debris and plowing snow out there calls for the same excavation equipment the crew uses the rest of the year, just fitted with a blade instead of a bucket. The ground remembers its working history even in a cold snap, holding puddles that turn to sheet ice in spots a newer neighborhood wouldn't have. By the end of a storm morning, the driveways along the old mill grounds are cleared same as anywhere else in town, just a little harder-won.
