Matlock is little more than a store and a scatter of houses out along the gravel mainlines west of Shelton, deep enough into the timber that cell service gets thin and the road crews come later than they do closer to town. TDS Landscaping runs those gravel roads in a cold snap, plowing driveways that might not see another vehicle all day besides the one that lives there. Snow holds longer out on Matlock's back roads, shaded most of the day by second-growth fir that hasn't been logged in a generation, so a driveway plowed at midday can still need attention again before dark. It's remote work, one long gravel driveway at a time with nothing but timber for company. Out there, a clear driveway means more than it might closer to town, since it's often the only way in or out for weeks at a stretch.
