About Emerald Cleaning Service & Lawn Care

West toward Kamilche the road runs along tideflats where oyster growers work the mud at low water no matter the season, and the cold off Little Skookum Inlet gathers in the yards backing up to the highway. Emerald Cleaning Service & Lawn Care spends its summers on the grass out there and its winter mornings on the same driveways, a plow blade in place of the mower deck, clearing a path from the carport to the road before the tide even turns. A shellfish-country cold snap has its own feel, damp and briny and slow to lift, and the driveways nearest the water hold their frost until midmorning. Getting a walkway scraped and salted before that frost turns to black ice is the whole job on mornings like that. Come afternoon the same crew might be back with rakes instead of shovels, but on a cold morning the shovels come first.
