About Busy B's

By July the fields on both sides of Sequim have gone purple, and the whole town smells faintly of lavender at the end of a hot afternoon. Busy B's spends those weeks with a mower running and a trimmer over one shoulder, keeping town lawns even while the farms take all the attention. There is craft in it — the sharp line where turf meets bed, a hedge that doesn't flare at the ends, the walkway swept before anyone drives away. Growth eases off in the dry stretch and comes roaring back with the September rain, and the cutting follows suit. Small yards, done thoroughly, one week after another.
