About Baldner Services

At Richmond Beach the railroad still runs along the water, close enough that a freight horn carries up the bluff before most of Shoreline is awake. Baldner Services works those bluff-top streets in a cold snap, driveways that pitch down toward the beach and ice first because the grade holds every bit of runoff overnight. The plow blade takes the driveway down to gravel, then salt goes along the steepest few feet where a car would otherwise slide toward the tracks. Below, the tide keeps moving in and out under the cold like nothing unusual is happening at all. By the time the first train of the morning passes the park, the driveway above it is clear and the day can start.
