In October the weather comes up from the southwest and stays over Rochester for months, and the grass answers by growing straight through it. Controlled Rain works that long green stretch, cutting between showers, trimming the soaked edges, hauling clippings off so a lawn does not mat down and sour. There is real pride in keeping a yard sharp in a place where almost nothing stops growing until the first hard frost. Then come the dry weeks of August and the same lawns get the same hands, cut a shade higher and edged just as crisp. They mow across Rochester and out toward Porter, Oakville and the Grand Mound corner.
