About New Day Arborist

Ridgefield keeps a scatter of old Garry oaks around its edges, gnarled trees that have stood through more winters than the town's newer subdivisions have existed, and on a frost morning their bare limbs hold a rime that doesn't let go until well after the Main Street shops open. New Day Arborist works the streets under those oaks first thing, clearing the walks and driveways where fallen branches and acorn litter have iced over into something more treacherous than plain snow. It's careful ground-level work more than tree work in these months — shovel and salt, not saw and rope — moving block by block from the old oak-lined streets down toward the newer edges of town. The town itself wakes up slowly on a cold morning, Main Street a little quieter than usual, frost still silvering the parked cars outside the cafe. By the time the oaks have shed their morning rime, the sidewalks beneath them are already clear enough to walk without looking down.
