November rain on the Cougar Mountain foothills falls straight down through alder and sword fern, and yards up that way stay dark and dripping until noon. Hector's Landscaping fits the day to it — mowing when there is a break, otherwise cutting back, weeding, and clearing the wet leaves that slide off the slope into everyone's lawn. Warmer months bring the regular round: mowing, edging, string trimming, hedge work and hauling the cleanup out. Renton's eastern edge is all grade and evergreen shade, which makes for mossy turf and yards that respond to coaxing rather than force. Done well, those hillside properties hold a soft, tended green even in the middle of a gray week.
