Pine Lake sits low and half-hidden behind cedar hedges on the plateau's south side, and the homes ringing its shore tend to have long driveways that catch whatever the lake-effect moisture drops as snow instead of rain. This handyman crew handles those driveways and the walkways down to the water, shoveling and salting a path that doesn't disappear back into ice by evening. Pine Lake itself rarely freezes solid, so the cold settles instead into the ground around it — walkways stay slick long after a storm has technically passed. Small jobs add up here: a set of porch steps cleared, a mailbox path opened, a driveway scraped back to gravel or asphalt. By late afternoon, with the lake gone the color of tarnished silver, a cleared path to a front door is a small, useful thing to have finished.
