A few times a year Redmond gets one of those glass-clear days when Mount Rainier stands up over the south end of the valley and every lawn in town looks better for it. The Great Lawn works toward that view from the ground up — mowing in even passes so a lawn reads as one continuous surface, edges cut sharp along drives and beds, trimming where the machine can't finish the thought. There's an old pleasure in a big lawn cut well, and this corner of the Eastside has the ground for it. Spring and fall cleanups do the unglamorous half, clearing whatever winter and October leave behind. The result is a yard that holds its shape from the porch all the way down to the street.
